Dogs for Autism, Disability and emotional, behavioral and cognitive disorders.
Dogs for Kids was founded through the efforts of some people involved for many years both in the dog world in various aspects of disability. Each of us, with their wealth of experience, found himself at some point in front of the limitations and gaps in the current service offered assistance dogs in the area and and we decided to take action to fill these gaps. Through contacts built over the years by all of us, we are creating a network of international collaborations that also allow, with the Italian territory, the creation of a group able to grow, prepare, and entrust assistance dogs for specific situations who are able to complete assigned tasks specially designed for children with disabilities or non-disabled children living with disabilities.
The impact that the dog has on the lives of disabled people and their families who choose to take this route is priceless, and the recipe includes the ability to achieve a good level of independence, a perception of others and of himself by the disabled, and objective improvement in both the psychological and physical which leads to a real improvement in the quality of life of the disabled person and his family.
Every dog given as assistance dog commits 18 / 24 months of work and has a cost not only in terms of commitment.
Living costs for the preparation of an assistance dog are: cost of the puppy, veterinary (health checks, vaccinations, castration), maintenance, training, placement in family followed by a specialist in the field.
Our purpose is to give each dog at no cost to the families affected by proposing a specific case-by-case cooperation between different operators in the sector, evaluating and following in each case the individual situation to create a combination of child-dog that helps the child in a healthy growth, an improvement in both social and family above all, and allow them to reach an insertion-social rehabilitation as complete as possible.
Programs followed for this purpose are quite complex and diversified depending on the child's disability with which we will be called to work. It will go from simple emotional support to children who have suffered trauma of different types or living with a disability in the family, until the preparation of the actual assistance dog to accompany his partner, autistic or severely disabled, in an emotional and social development.
The program will not be limited to simply work with the dog and will not end with the award of the dog family and the disabled, but will continue through specific meetings and cognitive paths through which we will try to put the combination of child-dog in a position to take charge of simple tasks initially and gradually more complex tasks that will have to complete with the help of professionals which will be supported and that will allow him to gain awareness and self-esteem.
Throughout the work is expected to support professionals sector (psychotherapists, pediatricians, and professionals working in the sector and the disabled to be included in the program in detail, and operating in the territory of competence) in order to create a synergy of purpose that leads to concrete and lasting results.

DOGS FOR KIDS; We were fortunate as an answer to prayer, to become a part of this beautiful organization. They have entrusted the labradoodle part of this program to us here at Tango Wool. We are honored and most humbled at this opportunity. I have been there personally to see what an amazing, loving and motivated crew of people are the force behind this. I came back and said, I trust them. My dogs are and will continue to be blessed working with this "life force" of people.
